Lip Plate Restoration & Plating Services

Here at ModernFlute we offer lip plate restoration on your flute and/or piccolo as well as silver or gold plating services.

We can't tell you how many times we've been disappointed with a flute that has a blemished lip plate! Sometimes, during marching band for example, flutists manage to accidentally scuff their lip plates on the concrete, wack them on something, dent their headjoint itself, as well as numerous other possible scenarios on what happens to both flutes and headjoints!

Depending on the severity of your lip plate determines the cost for the restoration.

*Update: 11/2020 - We are currently only offering rose gold plating options until we find a better supplier for yellow gold that will pass our durability tests.*

If you are considering cutting costs but wanting to upgrade your headjoint, we highly suggest having a custom-made lip plate added by Candelarius in either wood, sterling silver, or sterling silver with a gold riser inlay. For contact information or to check on pricing for a custom Candelarius headjoint and/or lip plate options (you can provide the headjoint tube to reduce cost), please click on 'Candelarius' in the menu above.

The photo to the right is from a customer's flute sent in for a COA and rose gold plating on the lip plate! Photo taken January 2017.

Lip plate gold plating service starts at $75+.

We also offer silver plating services! Below is a D#/Eb key from a customer's Yamaha 481. We are not sure what caused this damage, possibly a reaction with highly acidic sweaty hands over many years. We machine-polished out the imperfections until the finish was smooth then replated in silver again. Good as new!
